Yoga


At MembersFirst we take pride in the high quality of our classes. Before joining us in a class, please refer to the descriptions below so that you can select the ideal workout for you. Each instructor is professionally trained and certified, and our classes are carefully designed in accordance with ACE (American Council on Exercise) and AFAA (Aerobics and Fitness Association of America) guidelines. All classes are an hour unless otherwise indicated. Classes designated with an ALP are offered through the Active Living Program. These classes are of a moderate level and are excellent for new members, seniors or those looking for a less intense workout.

Forms of Yoga and Description

Svaroopa Yoga
This form of hatha yoga integrates a sequence of postures (asanas), breath, and meditative awareness to improve flexibility, strength, and core stability. We will approach each posture through experiential anatomy to facilitate optimal learning. The results are body/ mind integration, postural integrity and deep relaxation. This class is suitable for all levels.

Hatha Yoga
Combine stretching, breathing and relaxation. Come learn basic yoga postures and various breathing exercises to get in touch with yourself. Hatha Yoga allows one to calm the mind, body and soul and to experience deep relaxation. You will strengthen the back and spine along with relaxing the next and shoulders. Tone your muscles while revitalizing your energy.

Ashtanga Yoga
Woks the entire body through a progressively challenging system of health; building strength, flexibility and balance methodically and therapeutically. This sweaty, aerobic form of yoga leaves you feeling energized and renewed.

Iyengar Yoga
A multilevel class that emphasizes alignment and precision in the poses. This class gives the student a solid foundation for all forms of yoga. It is both a challenging and relaxing hoga discipline.

Kripalu Yoga
A tradition of hatha yoga, kripalu yoga does something more than stretch, strengthen, balance body systems, improve posture and create relaxation. It assists you in feeling happier, peaceful and more productive. This class will take you on a journey which will uncover the physical and mental tensions held in the body, allowing insight to emerge along with deep relaxation.

Power Yoga Stretch
Works the entire body through a challenging series of yoga postures and stretches that build strength, flexibility and balance. This sweaty aerobic form of yoga leaves you feeling energized and renewed.
